[This was made in 7 days for Skillsmith Rapid Game Jam]

Mathtorio is a math-based factory game inspired by Factorio. Connect machines—adders, subtractors, multipliers, and dividers—to process numbers and deposit results in the center to score points.

  • Core mechanics:

    • Items are numbers.

    • Machines take inputs from any side, process after two inputs, and output in the arrow direction.

    • Dividers floor decimal results.

    • Numbers >99 display as 99 but process accurately internally.

  • Constraints:

    • Belts move numbers forward in the arrow’s direction; no curves, cross-sections, or splitters.

    • Extractors only on tiles with numbers; other machines cannot be placed on number tiles.

  • Controls:

    • 1-6: Select object

    • R: Rotate

    • WASD: Move

    • Scroll wheel: Zoom

    • Shift: Faster move and zoom

    • Left click: Place

    • Right click: Delete

It took us a while to understand how to play, but once we got past that hurdle, the game is interesting and different. As feedback, we think it would be good to make it easier to select and rotate elements, for example, by eliminating the use of the numbers 1 to 5 and the R key and using the icons at the bottom to select with the left click and rotate with the right click (the rotations would appear at the bottom and would already be selected when rotated). Then placement would be with the left click and deletion with the right click, as it is now.
